All students attending elementary to secondary schools in Oro province have been asked to pay project fees despite the directive from the Education Department not to pay project fees for this year. Provincial Education Advisor for Oro, Mr Maino Vegoli confirmed that the Provincial Education Board has approved for all secondary students to pay K200, primary school students to pay K100 while elementary students to pay K50. “The TFF funds are not enough and with the current economic crises that the government is being faced with, we are left with no choice but to impose project fees to keep the schools going for the remaining of the year” said Mr Vegoli He said they might be in breach of Education Department’s directive but he expects the Department to understand that schools might have to close up early if they don’t do anything now.
