TEACHING is a noble profession that can influence and change a person’s character, says Minister for Higher Education, Research Science and Technology Pila Niningi.
He was addressing 707 students who graduated from the University of Goroka last Friday. “You are privileged to be in this noble profession to utilise your skills and knowledge to influence and change characters of human beings,” he said. Ninigi urged them to carefully use the skills and knowledge they have acquired to help students in schools. “Teachers are expected to be of high standard as you have changed the way you think and do things. You have made your parents and sponsors proud with your high achievement,” he said. He warned them not to give in easily to peer pressure but to live their lives with integrity and respect. Vice-Chancellor Professor Musawe Sinebare challenged the students to be problem-solvers and not problem-creators.
