Minister for finance and acting minister for education announces that national government this week will transfer over k200 million into all school accounts for all schools to start this year. Minister Marape makes this remark whilst officially opening 2014 academic calender years for all schools under his ministry.
The national government has for the last three years since Oniel Prime Ministership been giving out free education and for this years school fees we are now remitting K200m as first installment, whilst awaiting all school to furnish their acquittals for more the K600 million government paid to all schools directly for the free school fee program. "All schools must now send in their acquittals by 31 march of 2014 to receive their second trance. Like I have been placing calls on all recipient of government funds to acquit, like wise all head masters of all schools to prepare their acquittals." I noted there are still many issues in education, like teacher leave fare, quality intervention programs, school capacity problems due to increase enrollment, our government's compulsory education intentions. I commit our government's resolve to ensure this critical issues are resolved this year. We are now moving into third and final year to abolish OBE where next year we should have new education structure and curriculum in light with national government compulsory education drive. This year will be second year of English as language of instruction, we will pilot compulsory education at elementary one. Next year we are looking at only two years of elementary, six years of primary and six years of secondary are some major structural changes we will be making. This will mean grade 7 and 8 to back to secondary high schools so that properly trained high school teachers teach them are amongst done s changes we will do. In the meantime Marape appeals to teachers that leave issues and work conditions are within my radar to immediately address so please you give your best to our children. You have a national government that is pro education hence many of those unanswered queries and questions will be addressed this year. Like your leave fares I will ensure it goes into your accounts directly instead of through provinces now as it is becoming problematic every year. For the children and parents I ask you to support your schools where you can in kind and good citizenship as your government is paying for your tuition fees. No school will charge more then K200. as project fees. I wish all student parents and teachers a safe and prosperous 2014 academic year Comments are closed.
