Malaysian Association of PNG helping poor children find alternative schools in Port Moresby8/2/2018 CHARITY homes are helping an increasing number of children who cannot be enrolled in public schools in Port Moresby, an official says. Caritas Learning Centre director Sister Senorina Kim said most of the children attending the centre were from nearby areas such as Vadavada, Sabama and Taurama who were not able to enrol in other schools. Kim thanked the Malaysian Association of PNG for the K50,000 donation that will help the school buy food for the children. She said the children received lessons and most of them were provided meals because they did not bring proper meals from home.
The Caritas Centre opened 11 years ago with the help of the Caritas Sisters who run the learning centre. Association president Chew Heng said many of the sisters came to PNG to help others by reaching out to grassroots people to promote education, health and social services.
