TEACHERS in Madang are yet to be told of their postings with the first school term to begin on Monday.Teachers packed the provincial education office yesterday complaining about the delay in their postings. One said the education department in Madang had told them the postings would be displayed on the notice board outside the office.Mark Anton, an ex-teacher who was there to assist his wife confirm her posting, said he gave up teaching because of all these delays.“Teachers posting is yet to be released, Grade Nine selection lists are yet to be put out and teachers are facing problems in getting their payslips. The Madang education office has got itself confused,” Anton said.An officer at the education office said education director Moses Sariki was attending a week-long provincial education board meeting and was unavailable for comment. The officer said all Grade Nine selection lists would be released after the PEB meeting and teacher postings were expected to be released this week. A female teacher who requested anonymity said teachers and parents wanted to know if their children were going to high school so they could make preparations.“Teachers want to know if our children will continue so we can apply for school fee loans but the education office has been delaying the issuing of our payslips,” she said. She said they were continuously told that the Alesco system was down and their payslips could not be printed.
