While the Institute of Business Studies continues to provide quality education with its various academic programs in the country, it also continues to be an active supporter of sports.
As part of IBS contribution to sports, it works in partnership with the PNG Olympic Committee by supporting its events such as the annual Trukai Fun Run. Scholarships are offered by IBS as prizes to participants of the Trukai Fun who enter into a draw by filling in an entry form during the Fun Run event. These forms go into the draw where lucky winners receive a scholarship for six months, from IBS to study at their campus in Port Moresby. This year IBS is offering scholarships to the five lucky winners selected from the IBS Draw. The winners are; Ngele Bugi (Daru), Janet Becko (POM), Sanny Biksy (POM), Waribyrnengo Waliku (POM) and David Jerry (POM). “Our partnership with Trukai Fun Run and PNG Olympic Committee goes a long way and IBS is happy to support the community and will continue to support to give opportunity to our fellow Papua New Guineans to educate themselves to reach their dreams to better their lives. “Congratulations to the winners and we encourage more people to participate in sports related activities,” said Associate Director of IBS, Vani Nades. These scholarships are for Certificate programs in Accounting, Computing, Marketing and Human Resource Management and will run for six months and the students need to make use of it during the year. “It’s been almost 11 years supporting this initiative and IBS is proud to play a contributing role in supporting our PNG Elite sports men and women,” Ms Nades said. IBS is also providing scholarship for PNG’s elite athletes through the Athletes Excellence Program in Partnership with PNG Olympic Committee. Interested athletes can see the Team at PNG Olympic Committee for more information about that. PNG Olympic Committee Secretary General, Auvita Rapilla thanked IBS for their continued support and congratulated the winners of the draw. “We are grateful for the support IBS has given over the years which not only has contributed to the development of our elite sports men and women but also the community by offering scholarships and academic programs for everyone,” Mrs. Rapilla said. Winners are adviced to contact the Cedric Tei or Andrew Molen at the PNG Olympic Committee on 323 0114 or 325 1449, fax 325 1851 or emails; ctei@pngsfoc.org.pg and amolen@pngsfoc.org.pg as soon as possible.
