THE Government is in the process of making its free education policy become law so that Papua New Guinea children benefit from it, Nawaeb MP Gisuwat Siniwin says.
Siniwin, the Vice-Minister for Education, said that last Friday during the opening of a new K62,000 classroom at Kapa Elementary School in Kalangang village in Nabak in Nawaeb district. Siniwin told parents at the Kapa Elementary School that the government had decided to do this because it viewed education as a priority to development. Siniwin said it would not affect the free education policy because by then it will have already become law. “The government has allocated K650 million to schools this year,” Siniwin said. “This will continue as long as this government is in power. The government is here to help. Your government is serious about education. “You must make use of this free-education policy and enroll all your children in school. Siniwin told the people not to ask him for money and become lazy but to start planting cash crops and starting small businesses. Siniwin, who was the principal of Bumayong Secondary School for 16 years before entering politics, told the parents to listen to teachers and take an interest in the education of their children.
