Education Secretary Dr.Michael Tapo says, the rise in the number of secondary schools and increased enrolments in grades 9 and 12 has resulted in a serious shortage of relevant science equipment, chemical materials and resources to support teaching and quality learning in the country.
Dr. Tapo made the remarks when announcing that all high schools, secondary schools and national high schools nationwide will have received their science equipments kits by the end of this year, under the Science Distribution Project.
The project purchased and distributed relevant science equipment, chemical and materials for teaching the science curriculum in high and secondary schools.
Dr. Tapo says there's also a serious shortage of qualified PNG Teachers in science, mathematics, and other upper secondary subjects.
This has forced secondary schools to engage an increasing number of graduates from universities without teaching qualifications.
