KUNDIAWA Lutheran Day High School will be granted secondary school status in 2016, provincial administrator Joe Kunda said.
He said at the 26th annual Grade 10 graduation in Kundiawa. Kunda said although Chimbu has prioritized education, its secondary schools in the districts and none at the provincial headquarter. “Therefore, we will convert Kundiawa Lutheran Day High School, located in the town, to become a Kundiawa Lutheran Day Secondary School by next year,” he said. He challenged the current Board of Governors under the chairmanship of former Deputy Governor and Town Mayor Teine Sogan and Principal Raphael Kua with the help of Simbu Provincial Education division to put necessary documentations together and prepare facilities to enroll Grade 11 starting next year. Kunda was the guest speaker at the graduation that carried the theme ‘if you believe, you will achieve’. Outstanding students were given awards ranging from Principal’s award, leadership, citizenship, sportsmen/women, most improved and all the subjects. Loraine Damien received the dux award and Sonya Dimari was her runner up. Awards were sponsored by local business houses.
