Kopkop College hosted and topped the inter-school Math and Science Quiz this week with over 100 points whilst Tokarara Secondary and St. Paul’s came second and third with 90 and 70 points, respectively. The theme of the Competition was, “Fostering Sharp and Inquisitive Minds”. There were only three schools that participated, the St Pauls Primary, Tokarara Secondary and Kopkop College. Previously, Gerehu and St Charles Lwanga Secondary use to be a part of the competition, however the two schools withdrew due to other commitments. Founder and Executive Director Maria Kopkop, while addressing the students emphasized on the theme saying students need to have a creative mindset to excel. Mrs. Kopkop says the theme fostering sharp and inquisitive mind can be mind boggling if this is the first time you have heard such theme, however she explains it should not be. ‘’To be in highly Technical and professional field tomorrow, you need to start sharpening by training your mind to be positive in all your learning, believe in yourself, your capabilities and to be confident in your thinking so that you can create a sharp mind’’, said Mrs Kopkop ‘’Train your mind to ask questions for a better answer, do not leave a stone unturned –train your mind to be creative in all you do’’ The competition is held every year as a way to help build relationship with other schools in the surrounding community. The event was segmented into three parts. With the Maths quiz leading the program in the morning, followed by the Science displays and Science quiz, in the later part of the day. PNGFM
