As an increasing number of students every year sit the National Grade 12 examinations, spaces at Universities and tertiary institutions become limited. Kopkop College, a private school, as a result is expanding their students’ educational options after their year 12 studies end. Executive Director, Maria Kopkop who attended the Queensland Department of Education International Conference (QLDDEI 2018) in Brisbane, Australia on the 28th and 29th of May, said the school is looking at various options of study for their students. “We are excited to see what is in store for our students.” “These are known as University Pathways, and are pre-entry courses should they consider to apply to universities or tertiary organisations in the Queensland state.” Ms Kopkop added. “These programs will allow for students to study foundation courses and skills in line with the Queensland Education Curriculum before they can apply to higher education institutions such as Vocational Education and Training schools or low-entry universities.” Kopkop College’s Gerehu Campus currently offers Grade 11 and 12 subjects under the Papua New Guinean public school curriculum. This is apart from a newly established matriculation program under the University of Papua New Guinea’s CTSS program that the college is currently running for school leavers looking to upgrade their Grade 10 and 12 results.
