GRADE 12 students of Kerevat National High school have started sitting for the national examination after all the negative developments in the recent few weeks.
The school in Gazelle district of East New Britain was embroiled in controversy last month after 12 students were expelled for disciplinary offences. Principal Ray Rieme Alo said the school administration, staff and students had buried their differences to allow the Grade 12s to sit for the high school certificate examination starting yesterday. Alo said the Grade 12 graduation would be held on Friday, Oct 24, where Speaker Theodore Zurenuoc would be the guest of honour. “Of course, the school, parents, community and the general public were stigmatised by the school’s recent turmoil,” he said. “Which place has no problems on earth? This was our turn to face this problem but we managed it well and restored normalcy. “We can still see the light at the end of the tunnel. We’ll fight to the last heart beat for academic excellence.” He said the Grade 12 students expelled were sitting for the exam at other schools. Alo said the arrangement was made in consultation with the education department and measurement services branch. The terminated students are sitting their exams at the Manus Secondary school, Bumayong Secondary School, Brandi Secondary school and De La Salle Secondary School, Bomana.
