A HELA scholarships’ website was launched on Friday for students to apply for sponsorship, says Governor Philip Undialu.
Undialu, told The National that the website – Hela Undialu Education Scholarships – was an initiative of the provincial government to provide scholarships for all Hela students. “We will be launching the website so that parents can go on line and apply for a scholarship for their children,” he said. “The scholarships will depend on the number of applicants and is open to all Hela students in tertiary institutes and colleges in the country and abroad.” Undialu said education was one of the key services that his government was looking at and encouraged parents to also be supportive of their children’s education. “We have made plans and commitments, but parents must also understand that cash flow is a major problem so we will do what we can to help our students,” he said. “Parents must also come forward and support their children, as human resource is now an important tool in development.” Undialu said that a Facebook page named Hela Undialu Education Scholarships has also beencreated to support the initiative. Those who cannot go to the website can also apply through the Facebook page. “We have long supported our students and we will continue to do so this year,” Undialu said. The National
