A SCHOOL’S achievement is reflected from a head teacher’s good leadership and
management qualities. That remark was made by the head teacher of Port Moresby’s Ward Strip Demonstration School, Emily Ricky. She said a head teacher must be an upright person who should be proactive and participants fully in all students’ activities. “Students must look up to you but if you are just there to occupy that position and not be proactive, student will see you negatively.” She said a head teacher’s presence in any student activities such as sports, assemblies and corporate visits encouraged them to perform because they knew they had the support not only from teachers but by the head of school. “You have to be there to show support and embrace them because to run an institution is a very active job but when you love children you’re fit for the job that’s why I encourage teachers to be present at every student’s activity,” Ricky said. She said that reflected teacher’s commitment in not only teaching the students but being with them in all activities. “Students need to be trained so that they become good citizens. That starts from the head teacher’s commitment down to the teachers.” Comments are closed.
