By Governor Parkop This morning I had an interesting and lovely ride on the new school bus service for our school children. Listening to their stories and watching how happy they are to ride on the bus without their parents having to worry about bus fare and their safety is so rewarding. I had a chance to tell them about some of the signage on the bus to not litter, no graffiti, no harassment, no chewing Buai and spitting. I went on Route 5 which starts from Gerehu and ends at Manu auto port and returns on same route. Tomorrow I will go on other routes. I urge drivers and off siders to be on time, to dress to high standards and alway be polite but firm with the children especially in applying the protocols, maintaining the rules and to ensure all children are seated safely and arrive safely at their schools.
Like any thing new we will have some teething problems but it can only get better from now on. Parents and students welcome to offer suggestions for improvement via their principals, headmasters and headmistresses. Our goal is to get them to school and back home safe and on time From here, and once we get things organised and running on time, we might use the busses from 9-3 as public transport for the general public on routes not serviced by PMVs. One step at a time. Next : Free Bus Service For Port Moresby City School Children Comments are closed.
