THE era of technology has evolved over time in different ways, Papua New Guinea Educational Robotic Lab (PERL) founder Shahram Honarzad says.
PERL is an initiative of Honarzad, an ICT expert. It started in 2013 with the aim of introducing robotics into the education system in PNG to enhance students with skills to adapt to the ever changing technological trend. Speaking at a presentation at the Port Moresby International School last week, Honarzad challenged the teachers if they were ready to teach electronics and robotics to students to enhance their learning. “I believe that PNG’s students and teachers should not be left behind in worldwide robotic trend,” he said. Honarzad said the national government’s Vision 2050 emphasises on ICT in education and PERL is a way forward. Honarzad and his team have done presentations at Don Bosco Technical Institute, Don Bosco Secondary School, Gordon Secondary and it has gained interest from students who want to venture into the field of electronics, programming and robotics.
