All schools across the country must immediately implement the new artificial intelligence-powered digital learning management system called EduNeX, Acting Education Minister Hon. Kinoka Feo, MP, announced recently. In a ministerial policy statement issued under Section 27 of the Education Act 1983, Feo said the digital reform is necessary to address significant challenges in delivering equitable education due to PNG's rugged geography, dispersed population, and limited digital infrastructure. The Department of Education said many schools especially in rural and remote areas lack access to modern learning resources and digital tools. EduNeX will be powered by solar infrastructure to overcome the lack of reliable electricity and internet connectivity.
The minister said the new system will provide equal access to quality education in all regions, provinces and districts, help teachers with structured digital content and tools, give students interactive learning experiences tailored to their needs, build a strong education system that can function during pandemics and natural disasters, and offer affordable connectivity to bring PNG's education system up to global standards. "I direct every teacher, principal and school board for your full cooperation in the implementation of the EduNeX policy," Feo said. "This deliberate reform will help support every student in their education journey, in turn improve the quality of education and leave no child behind." The policy takes immediate effect in every school under the National Education System. A Secretary's Circular Instruction and other circulars will provide detailed guidelines on how schools should implement the policy. All education authorities, provincial education advisors, church education secretaries, provincial and district education boards, district education officers, guidance officers, inspectors, and heads of schools are directed to follow the directive. headlines
