THE Morobe education division will not tolerate the new trend of students’ behaviour in attacking teachers and school principals, provincial adviser Keith Jiram says. Some teachers and principals of rural high schools in the province have recently suffered at the hands of students. Morobe education programme adviser Jiram said a new trend has recently being developed in rural schools, where students are attacking school principals. “We have student disciplinary issues in rural schools. The PEB will not take it lightly for students who attacked school principals,” Jiram said.
“We will not entertain hooligans in our high and secondary schools. The students and their parents must heed this warning. “Whatever decisions respective school’s governing councils make is the decision that PEB will entertain.” He said the PEB listens to governing council and will entertain its decisions. “If the governing council terminates or expel a student involved in attacking school principal, that’s the decision PEB will take.” Jiram said the trend of students harassing principals and teachers seemed to be new, which PEB will not entertain. The education PPA sounded the warning after students from Wasu secondary and Salamaua high assaulted their principals Alphonse Kamba and Dusty Imaita, when they were trying to stop students for fighting among themselves.
