A 21-YEAR-OLD female student from Manus has flown to the Philippines to study engineering and fulfill her dream to become the first engineer in the family.
Delvin Mundri arrived in Cebu City on Nov 2 to enroll for the new intake in the country. Upon finishing Grade 12 from Manus Secondary School last year, Delvin decided to pursue her goal of studying overseas. “It’s my first time overseas and be far from my family but I am not nervous at all. My goal keeps me determined and focused,” she said. Delvin’s dream is to become a civil engineer. Though known to be a male-dominated course, she believes that women are capable of studying engineering. “Manus is a developing province and it needs engineers. This profession might be dominated by males, but I am confident enough of my skills and capacity to learn and succeed,” she said. Mundri is now doing her admission at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation through the services of PIEC. “I am happy that I am finally here in Cebu. I came here for a purpose, to complete my studies, and go back to PNG with success and pride. I am so thankful to my parents for making this possible for me,” she said.
