The Australia-Papua New Guinea trade and security partnership continues to grow, with over 400 primary and elementary school teachers in Papua New Guinea set to receive capacity-building assistance from the Australian government. These teachers are expected to participate in a diploma course in primary teaching aimed at enhancing their skills and advancing their careers. Australia’s Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Pat Conroy, announced that the course is open-source, allowing any teacher training provider in Papua New Guinea to implement it. He expressed Australia’s pride in contributing to this important investment in teacher upskilling, underscoring the commitment to strengthening education in PNG.
Minister Conroy encouraged the people of Papua New Guinea to collaborate with their leaders and the Australian government to increase the number of participants to over a thousand, aiming for a brighter future in education. Australia has maintained a close bilateral trade partnership with Papua New Guinea since its independence. Additionally, Minister Conroy pledged Australia’s financial support for Papua New Guinea in hosting the 2025 Pacific Education Ministers Forum in Port Moresby. Comments are closed.
