THERE will be more students and staff exchange programmes between the University of Papua New Guinea and the Australian National University, Professor Veronica Taylor, the Dean of the College of the Asia and Pacific of the Australian National University, said during the 2015 PNG Update Conference.
Taylor said that the two universities had recently signed a memorandum of understanding to work as partners to transform not only the School of Business but the university and to make available more staff and student exchange programmes. “The University of Papua New Guinea and the Australian National University have a long history together. “Many graduates and staff from the Australian National University actually became some of the first lecturers and professors of the University of Papua New Guinea,” she said. Taylor said they wanted to revive that friendship by having more staff and student exchange programmes so that the two universities could work together to transform and improve the university and other areas as well. She said that was why the Australian National University had a lot of interest in PNG and had organised the 2015 PNG Update with the University of PNG so that people could make informed decisions and know what was happening around them. “A public forum keeps the public informed and helps them make the right decisions and choices.” The National
