Ambassador Joshua Kalinoe CSM CBE presented his credentials to the director general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, (Unesco) Irina Bokowa in Paris, France, last week.
Unesco has noted Papua New Guinea’s participation as a member of the executive board and its commitment through its commission in PNG. This was announced following PNG Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, Joshua Kalinoe’s presentation of his letter of introduction to Bokowa.
Kalinoe was also PNG’s permanent representative to the Unesco, based in Paris. The PNG Mission in Belgium is responsible for all UN organisations and agencies in Europe, including Unesco, Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Assembly of State Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ASP) and the Organisation of the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
Kalinoe assured Bokowa of PNG’s continued commitment and support for Unesco’s agenda and informed her that the mission in Brussels would play an active role in the organisation’s broader agenda.
Kalinoe was also accredited to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva, France, Germany, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Poland, Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
