Waigani Christian School has been recognized by the Department of Education as a Primary School. This means the school will, for the first time, have its pioneer Grade 8’s sit for the National Grade Eight Examinations. The good news comes at a time when the school plans to build more classrooms on its 11 hectares of land to cater for the ever increasing number of students. Currently, there are seven classrooms being constructed at the new location upon the foothills of the Waigani Heights. Founder and Director, Benjamin Mul, was pleased the school was recognised by the Department of Education as it means, the school can implement outstanding projects. Top of the list is to elevate the primary school to secondary status with the support from the Education Department. However, the lack of resources remains the biggest hindrance. Waigani Christian School started in 1993 with only 13 students. Today the school has over 1000 students. These children are taught under the american standard, Phonic Basic Reading Class along with the PNG Curriculum. News & Photo by EMTV
