UNDERSTANDING basic Japanese language is the gateway to gain access to Japanese society.
Nippon Wantoks social club president Nimo Kama while addressing participants of the Language and Education Programme said: “With the language, our people can effectively understand the success story of Japan’s economic prowess and learn the lessons that are relevant to grow our country’s economy.” Ten Papua New Guineans attended basic Japanese language training in Port Moresby in a club’s programme. The club consists of people interested in Japan-PNG relations. According to programme director Alphonse Bade, the first batch of 10 students from 8-22 years old completed the five-day of Basic One Japanese training. “They have proved that it is easy to acquire to engage in basic conversation. They can now appreciate and enjoy the culture of Japan and communicate in Japanese,” Bade said. Gregon Kua and Baluante Eano said they enjoyed their lessons although they found it hard at the start. “With the help of our trainer, we are now able to speak basic Japanese language,” Kua said. “The training was fun and we think everyone enjoyed it but unfortunately our time is up.”
