Parents need to speak English to their children at home and they also need to have some control over their children using mobile phones more often.
These were the statements from Head of Grade Eight (8) at the Ward Strip Primary School Mrs Pisa Thomas after going through the grade eight (8) mock exam results that was done at the beginning of this term. She said the Written Expression Exam was poorly done as students used mobile phone slangs and pidgin words. “The paper that was difficult for the students is the Written Expression exam, and because they speak pidgin all the time, some of the words they wrote down in the exam were also in pidgin.” “They also used mobile phone language or slangs that kids nowadays use to text each other.” “These problems were identified in the Written Expression exam when we were marking them and it is a big concern for us teachers and I want the parents to do their part in helping their children at home when they are under their care,” said Mrs Pisa Thomas
