Police have arrested eight Grade 10 students of Busu Secondary School for consuming home brew after sitting for their final Examination paper last Friday.
According to one of the police officer in Lae, the students were sitting and enjoying the illegal alcohol at the Butibam cemetery when they were caught. He said police have managed to apprehend only 8 students while other students escaped. Lae Metropolitan Superintendent Commander Ivan Lakatani is yet to get a report on the arrest. Meanwhile, Members of the Papua New Guinea Defence force have given up to 10am today for 5 mile community leaders, councilors and the community at large to hand in those responsible of attempting to hold up two officers on Saturday. The warning came after a group of armed men attempted to hold-up the two officers who were driving into the city in a white truck. According to witnesses at the time of the incident, this was the third attempt for the day, which ended in an awful situation. Police have apprehended only one suspect. Meanwhile, Mr Lakatani has confirmed the incident.
