EDUCATION secretary Dr Michael Tapo says the department’s responsibility is to distribute examination papers and not provide armed security too.
He was responding to comments by parents and the PNG Teachers Association on the lack of security during the distribution of the examination papers at the Measurement Services Branch. Tapo said security measures for the distribution of examination papers were strictly internal matters which were not for public discussion. He said: “The department’s job is to create questions for examinations, test it and distribute it to schools. Parents should not worry about the security of papers but worry about how their children will sit for the examination.” He said the department had taken all precautionary measures to prevent any leakages. He said “false answer sheets” sold on the streets were from people out to make a fast buck. “The answer sheets were not from MSB and parents should not worry,” he said. He warned students against buying the answer sheets from the streets because they would be just wasting their money and effort.
