THE Education Department will issue a directive to all schools to allocate a time to hold a dedication service to promote Christian principles, according to Acting Secretary Dr Uke Kombra.
He told a dedication service held last Friday in Port Moresby for the department that he wanted the Friday before the school term started to be set aside for a dedication service for the ministry. “We must issue a circular that every school – the 10,000 to 12,000 schools that we have – should in the first week of the academic year must set a time to have a dedication service,” Kombra said. “We are a Christian country and we must promote Christian ethics.” Kombra thanked staff at the Teaching Service Commission, Library and Archives, and the department, for supporting the children. “The God Almighty, the Government and every parent has given us a mandate, a job to lead and manage the responsibility to ensure that our education system runs,” he said. “Our children are receiving quality education. “The vision we have in education is to give quality education to every child. “To every action that you and I take, every decision that we make, affects every student in the country.”
