The 2014 Academic Year started for many schools throughout the country yesterday, but not without a stern warning from the Education Secretary to headmasters and teachers on their resumption forms.
Doctor Michael Tapo says, teachers were to resume duties last week and start teaching this week. Dr. Tapo also reminded them to fill in their respective Resumption Duty Forms, for immediate dispatch to the Education Office in Port Moresby, for inclusion on the payroll. He said this, when announcing that the school calendar for this year starts today, which includes among others, subjects to be taught, the curriculum and teachers programs for 2014. Dr.Tapo says, the submission of Resumption of Duty Form is very important and the Department expects all Provincial Education Authorities to get them back from teachers of their respective schools and forward them to Port Moresby, this week. He says, this is to ensure teachers get paid and find out how many have resumed duties so that they are not removed from the payroll. Dr.Tapo says, the school boards, management and governing councils must ensure, teachers have resumed duties and are working. He states, figures for all students enrolments must be accurate, to avoid last year's incidences where some schools elevated and added student numbers, to get more Government funding. Dr.Tapo says schools found involved in such malpractice, will be penalised by the Teaching Service Commission, for misusing these privileges Comments are closed.
