SECRETARY for Education Dr Michael Tapo has thanked the European Union for supporting senior teachers’ college lecturers to build capacity in colleges.
Twenty-eight lecturers from colleges nationwide attended a weeklong workshop in Port Moresby last month. It was the first of three. “Quality teacher training is central to quality teaching and teacher quality which is a government priority. “The Education Department is committed to ensuring that our lecturers in colleges are highly trained and qualified and well-resourced to impart quality training to trainees,” Tapo said. He appreciated the European Union partnership with the Government. The workshop ended last Friday with participants receiving certificates. European Union Ambassador and head of the EU delegation to PNG Dr Martin Dihm officiated at the ceremony on Aug 15. “Without proper education, citizens would not make informed decisions and the country would not prosper. That is the reason why we and other partners have invested heavily in education here,” Dihm said. Comments are closed.
