THE University of Technology achieved another milestone when it convened the first meeting for the industrial advisory board for its engineering and science programme last Monday.
The Unitech industrial advisory board was formed as a result of the university’s drive towards continuous improvement and international accreditation of its engineering and science programme. At the opening of the board meeting, Unitech Vice Chancellor Dr Albert Schram said the installation of the board was significant as it would drive continuous improvement in the university’s mission critical areas of teaching, research and outreach. Schram told the board that the university management hopes that they can revise the university’s curricula and lecture plans, interview faculty, staff and students, and brief the management about their findings. The Unitech advisory board comprises of executive level industry representatives from leading companies in Papua New Guinea and the world. It is chaired by ExxonMobil engineering manager Jeff Ralston with Institute of Engineers PNG president Ila Marias his deputy.
