PNG will have three new poly-technicalschools and two new universities by next year and onwards.The announcement was made by Education Minister Nick Kuman on Tuesday during the Tuition Fee Free commodity component roll out for NCD schools.Minister Kuman said the new schools will be built to capture thealarming rate of dropouts from secondary schools in the country.Minister Kuman said that the locations of the poly-technical schools will be in Kokopo, Chimbu and Enga provinces.The poly-technical schools will be built to support the existing poly-technical schoolsin Port Moresby and Lae.The Minister said the new universities in the country will be called West Pacific University and the University of Commonwealth. One university will be located in Hela province while the other university’s location will be decided soon.Minister Kuman said the government wants to see that the people are developing thecountry and not spectators.He made reference to the LNG project in Hela Province, where foreigners came into the country to work as skilled labourers in the construction phase of the project, while most Papua New Guineans were left out.
