The Office of Higher Education is considering the possibility of paying a portion of the fees required by parents who choose to send their children to study abroad.
At the moment the OHE is unable to help because there is no policy. Director-General Professor David Kavanamur says many parents have approached the Government for assistance in the past. “We are now researching how we can assist through subsidies and will make recommendations to the Government,” he says. “We are happy parents are sending their children overseas as it helps release some pressure from our higher education institutions.” The office is also studying and researching how a government loan system to students can be implemented.
