CLASSES have started for more than 250 Papua New Guinea students enrolled at universities in Cebu, Philippines, for the 2014-2015 Philippine academic year.
The 195 students leap to a higher level in university after enjoying a two-month summer break. Eighty-six new PNG students, who travelled on April and May, will now do their first year of university studies. These students are registered through the education placement services of Paradise International Education Consultancy (PIEC), an organisation which has been helping PNG students since 2012 to travel to the Philippines and study. Cassandra Apana, a 20-year-old student from Central, said the Philippines was a very nice place. “Its people are friendly and very helpful,” she said. “The climate and the environment remind me of my home, PNG, and this makes me feel as if I’m not so far from home.” Cassandra finished Grade 12 at the Badihagwa Secondary School. She is now taking up bachelor of science in accountancy, and is one of more than 80 PNG students enrolled to the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF). Comments are closed.
