KEROWAGI Secondary School in Kerowagi district, Chimbu, starting issuing all Grade 11 and 12 students a laptop each last week.
School governing council chairman Singil Gogla and administration headed by Principal Samuel Kono said they took a decisive resolution that senior students should be provided a laptop each. Governor Noah Kool, who commissioned the laptops, praised the school for being the first in the province to have laptops each for Grades 11 and 12 students. “Your initiative to give a laptop each to senior students really promotes my top priority to invest in human resource for the province,” Kool said. He acknowledged the school board and administration for their commitments and efforts to prudently manage the school. Kool also presented K300,000 toward building a new ‘girls lodge’ as his part of accelerating girls education in Chimbu. Kono said in May 2015, the school opened new boy’s lodges, the boys are now living in comfortable dormitories while the girls were still living in old dormitories. The school’s head boy Noah Brown told Governor Kool that the students would do their best to score good marks that will keep the good record of the school’s high academic achievement and make use of the laptops given to them.
