Students from Jiwaka Province attending tertiary institutions around the country will be pleased to learn that their provincial government has set aside K1.5 million in school fee subsidies.
This announcement was made by Jiwaka Governor William Tongamp on Sunday while addressing parents and students at Aviamp Primary School. Governor Tongamp who is a radical promoter of education in the country, stated that he was increasing the school fee subsidies for Jiwakan tertiary students because he hopes to bring about change in society through the up skilling and creation of well trained experts in various trades. The pioneer governor disseminated that last year, the province had put aside K800,000 and that this amount had seen to the subsidizing of more than 200 Jiwakan students in various PNG institutions. Mr Tongamp also took the opportunity infront of a crowd packed Aviamp oval to urge parents to put school aged children in school as the government was providing free education. “The Jiwaka provincial government has already paid school fees to all Jiwaka based schools from grades one to twelve,” the governor. “I therefore urge all of you to send your sons and daughters to schools and utilize the opportunity that will see to the betterment of our society,” he added. where' s the money gone???? As a student of university of technology we heard that the governor had allocated to money but we didn't receive money for our tuition fee. Hope this K1.5 million had spent well on other tertiary institution.
