THE Indian Government will assist University of Papua New Guinea graduates do their post-graduate studies and some other programmes in India, Indian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea Madhava Chandra says.
Chandra announced that at the university’s 60th graduation ceremony last Friday. “India will help the UPNG graduates in Masters, PhD and collaborative programmes in sciences, information and communication technology, business, medicine, law and social sciences,” he said. Chandra said that would ensure PNG had global competitive and distinctive skills and knowledge. He said India had a world-standard education system and more than 600 universities. “India is a largest provider of global talents, with one in every four graduates in the world a product of its education system,” Chandra said. “It is among the top five countries globally in research output and research capabilities. “At least 100 of the Indian universities are competing with the world’s best universities and 23 Indian universities are among the top 200 universities in the world. “In the last 20 years, six Indians have been awarded Nobel Prizes across different categories. “India is a regional hub for higher education, attracting learners from all over the world. “Its higher education is governed by high ethics and accountability.” Chandra said over the last 20 years, India had remarkably transformed its entire education landscape.
