TEACHERS must be housed properly if they are to contribute meaningfully to the education of the students, an official said.
Gibson Dom, the senior standard officer (secondary schools) with the Morobe Provincial Education Division, said this last Sunday when addressing stakeholders at the opening of three new teachers houses at the Grace Memorial Secondary School in Wau. Wau is located in the Bulolo district, south of Morobe. “Teachers must be housed properly because they are an important stakeholder of the school. Without teachers students can’t learn,” Dom said. He commended the school administration and board for building the houses for their teachers. “I hope other schools in the province follow the example set by Grace Memorial Ssecondary School,” Dom said. “All tuition fee free funds must be aligned to the SLIP (School Learning Improvement Programme) initiative to achieve the government’s education objectives.” Principal Zukua Koito said the houses were built at a cost of K460,000 from funds given to the school under the government’s tuition fee free Policy. “Last year we received K800,000 and this year we received another K1.2 million, that was invested here,” Koito said. The houses took four months to complete according to Koito. “The houses were constructed by our very own school carpenter, Heteri Doa, who was assisted by the auxiliary staff,” he said. Koito said the house will be occupied by the heads of Social Sciences, Language and Literature and Technology at the school. He said there are about 1400 students at the school with 42 teaching staff. Bulolo district administrator Tae Gwambalek praised the school for providing good houses for its teachers. The government-run school enrols students from Watut, Mumeng, Buang, Bulolo, Wau, Biaru and Waria. The National

I have my nephew who didn't complete yr.10 due to school fights and was not able to do his grade 10 certificate exam. Does he have a chance of being re-enrolled to complete yr.10?
