PARENTS, teachers and the invited guest yesterday in Lae, Morobe, witness the 7th Grade 12 graduation for the Busu Secondary School that saw 231 students passing out in flying colours.
The theme of the 7th graduation was “Quality Education the key to a Healthy, Wealthy and a Smart Society”. This school is one of the oldest in the province that used be a girl’s school that started in 1961 before becoming a co-educational in late 1968. It has turned out to be a model school in the city that has set a bench mark to put an end to school fights with their school mission of “One Busu No Grouping.” And sponsoring the academic awards for all the subjects at a worth of K5,700 was Riback Stevedore, a business arm of Ahi community, while Butibum Progress Society assisted the graduation with K1,500. The dux of the 7th graduation was a young man from Unggai-Bena electorate in Eastern Highland, Jason Fonny. Fonny came first in advance maths, chemistry and physics and took out the science department dux award with fellow students Sam Saonu, Tonny Saidon and Rope Siniwin, who were the dux in social science, business studies and skills department respectively.
