Concerned Senior Students of the UPNG are calling on NEC to review the decision made by the COUNCIL to terminate studies for 2016. Spokesperson, Mr Desmond KOKI, a 4th year Public Policy Management student, called on parents and students to also back them in their call to Government to do something to save the rest of their STUDY YEAR. “We are calling on the NEC to revoke their decision and calling on all parents and students to back us up because we feel that the UPNG Senate did not consult us (Students) when they made the decision to terminate the academic year, as such we are exercising our constitutional rights to speak out against the decision that was made by the senate because the SRC has been disbanded and suspended”, said Desmond Koki. The band of students said the mediation process was in place to sort grievances out with UPNG Administration but because of the burning of 4 vehicles and the UPNG Printery on the 24th of June by drunken students the decision by the UPNG Senate to terminate the Academic year was made the very next day on the 25th of June 2016. The concerned students highlighted that this was biased an unfair and they are prepared to study on to December and January early next year in their plight to save the academic year. PNGFM
