PNG EDUCATION Minister Nick Kuman says the main reason some teachers are missing from the payroll is their failure to fill the resumption of duties forms.
“If they don’t get their resumption (of duty forms) in time before they start school then the process it takes before it comes to Waigani is quite cumbersome,” he said. “So as soon as all the protocols are complied with, the Teaching Services Commission has to ensure that they advise the Department of Education to immediately put all the teachers on the payroll.” Nuku MP Joseph Sungi had queried why seven teachers at Nuku High School were not on the payroll. “Is there a better and effective process that the department has to facilitate to help the teachers continue to receive their pay or be put on payroll immediately?” Sungi said. Kuman said a report given last week to the parliamentary referral committee relating to teachers’ entitlements had some findings on the delay in salary payment, underpayment and other issues affecting teachers. He said the department was working on improving these issues. He urged Sungi to discuss with him what could be done to help the teachers at Nuku High School.

I have my sister who has been teaching in Lae without pay for almost five years now. She filled all her resumption duty forms but there was no responds from the Education Department and their coordinator on what kind of process all her pay is going through. Please I need to find out what process is really going on here. My gmail isnolenneson5@gmail.com. Five years of service without pay is no good.
