CHIMBU’S Don Bosco Technical School has been elevated to a technical college.
Teaching Service Commission (TSC) vice-chairman Samson Wangihomie declared the school a technical college at Barawagi, in Kerowagi district, on Monday. Wangihomie said it would become the third national institution in Cimbu. He said the province already had the Simbu Teachers’ College, Simbu School of Nursing and now the Don Bosco Simbu Technical College. Wangihomie congratulated the Kundiawa Catholic Diocese and the Simbu provincial government for working together to ensure the school was elevated. Kerowagi MP Camillus Dangma thanked the Catholic Church and the Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) section for establishing the school in his district. “I acknowledge the efforts of former Kerowagi MP, the late John Kamb, for being instrumental in early negotiation with the Don Bosco missionaries to set up the school which is now being elevated to the college,” Dangma said. He thanked the director of the institution, Fr Robinson Parappilly and his staff and governing council for working hard. Dangma donated K200,000 towards the new Don Bosco Technical College. Simbu provincial administrator Joe Kunda expressed his appreciation for the new status of the college.
