A YOUNG man from Menyamya District in Morobe will soon realise his long life
dream of becoming a pilot, thanks to the support of his local MP. Henscliff Samson, 23, left for the Philippines last Thursday to undertake a 12-month pilot training that will see him graduate with a pilot’s licence come October next year. Menyamya MP and Finance Vice Minister Benjamin Phillip said human resource and capacity building for the district was a key area of his strategic plans and sending students abroad was an initiative that supported these plans. He said a student, Robert Rodney, was sponsored last year and he is about to become a fully pledged pilot at the end of this year. Phillip said Henscliff would be the second student to benefit from this initiative with plans for sending more top students from Menyamya abroad to undertake studies in various fields of study. “I believe in letting my actions do the talking rather than making empty promises that are unrealistic and cannot be achieved,” Phillip said. “As such this is one such realistic initiative that I have set out by way of investing in the children of Menyamya to equip them to come back and build the district.” He said funding would be allocated with the aim to send more students overseas and the establishing of a set framework that would allow for proper screening and selection of the best brains from the district to go overseas. “I am doing this as I believe the Menyamya people deserve the best and that is why I am investing in our children to go abroad to gained the necessary skills and training to come back and make a difference in the district,” Phillip said.

Bull shits! Where did he gained a merit of success to be selected as a top student to go and study abroad? Nepotism is the answer to this sponsorship.
